Crazy cacti and gnarly cypress, swanky seafood dinners and sleek harbour seals...the coast was cold, wet and wonderful - and mostly deserted, which was nice. We stayed in one "themed" motel in Cayucos that defies description (and sadly there are no photos) but let me just say that after experiencing the wonders of "The Hunt" room, leopard-spotted and zebra-striped to within an inch of its life, I really wanted to see inside "Intimate Ivy". Or maybe not.

I have so much catching up to do with all the pics from the California trip and now my new home in Powell River, but for now I offer you the view of Desolation Sound from our table at the restaurant tonight, where my new neighbours kindly shouted me a birthday dinner and drove me the 35km home to my cabin on the beach.
